Spring Update at The Table!
Hey Church!
What a start to spring it has been! Can you believe we are stepping into May already? This has been a wild, yet wonderful year thus far! Let’s look back at what we’ve done!
Palm Sunday we hosted our Mullet service where we had our service in the front and our party in the back! We celebrated the Albaugh’s as they were preparing to leave for Watsonville Church of the Nazarene in Northern California. Pastor Ryan preached his last message with us through John 12:9-19. We had a creative dinner of smash burger tacos and enjoyed fellowship through the night!
Easter Sunday was a unique celebration as we joined with Fireside Church, a church restart, that also meets at the MCA in the mornings. It was so great to worship with our brothers and sisters from Fireside. We broke bread through our annual Easter brunch, Joel and Megan joined together with Fireside’s worship team to lead us to the Cross, followed by prayer from the Fireside leadership, and ending with Pastor Christy bringing the Word preaching from John 20:1-18.
We jumped back into our house churches hosted by the Cherryholmes, and hopped back into our series One Story, One Year. Pastor Trevor took us through 2 Chronicles 36:11-23 where the people of Israel continued to go against the will of God. He spoke on how God’s judgment doesn’t compromise His plan, and how it is not the job of the prophets of their time, or the pastors of ours, to disciple you. We opened John Mark Comer's book Practicing the Way, and discovered that disciple is a verb, not a noun.
That means that disciple is something that you are, or are not, it is not something that happens to you. “Language matters. If disciple is something that is done to you, a verb. That puts the owner of the responsibility on someone else, like your pastor, church, or mentor. If disciple is a noun, if it’s something you are or are not, no one can disciple you but Jesus himself. You must choose to accept Jesus’ invitation to a life of apprenticeship.” (Practicing the Way)
Pastor Christy brought us into the New Testament and we have continued to dive in deeply into scripture as our pastors help break down the text, but spending the majority of our time in discussion has been a fantastic way to grow deeper in Christ as His apprentices. We had eight ladies join together for our district women's retreat in Prescott, life was shared and God really moved! We are excited to step into what this summer holds as we will have some guest speakers and we prepare for our annual school supply drive, check our website or socials for updates!
