January 2025 Recap – Tears, Triumphs, and Togetherness
This is Pastor Christy writing today to catch us all up on what January 2025 looked like for us at The Table Church. I’m going to be honest and say it’s truly been a “weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice” kind of month as we attempt to figure out what bearing one another's burdens looks like.
Together we’re really going through some things. There has been the loss of family members, and friends, even for our teens. There have been new and scary diagnoses to pray about and big emotions, questions, and fears to unpack together. But there has been so much to celebrate together too.
We’ve had new friends join us. We’ve celebrated kids’ birthdays together, cheered on our teens as they pursue their interests in music, sports, acting, and even pizza making. Our group has some skills! And we’ve shared with each other where we’ve seen God’s goodness, answers to prayers, and continued strength He’s provided as we overcome some of life’s challenges.
Throughout January we met at the Cherryholmes’ house. I hate to brag but the food has been on-point this month…from Portuguese custard tarts, and homemade sourdough to sushi bowls and giant burritos. Our next big project might have to be a recipe book or at least a house church foodie blog!
The kids have been studying the armor of God. We are all enjoying Micah's Super Vlog Armor of God videos from RightNow Media during our big group time. Then, the kids have been building each of the pieces of armor and completing activities related to it during their break-out time. The other day we opened the garage door just in time to hear them shouting “My faith is STRONG!!!!” so I think we’ve done our jobs!
Our adult lessons have looked a little bit different this month as we go through John Mark Comer’s series, Practicing the Way. We’re talking a lot about what it means to be a disciple: an apprentice of Jesus who is learning to be with Jesus, be like Jesus and do what he did. We’re discovering how we are being slowly and intentionally reformed through some of the practices of our faith such as Sabbath, scripture reading, prayer, silence and solitude, and more. If you’d like to catch up on what we’ve been discussing, you can log into our right now media account, and look for the Practicing the Way series.
We’re looking forward to so much in the months ahead! Pastor Trevor and Rachelle are expecting baby #3 in March, we’re spending all of Lent at Skyline park leading up to a beautiful service and brunch there on Easter morning (ALL are welcome), and women’s retreat and various other camps in the late spring and early summer.
If you don’t have a church gathering to call home, we hope that you consider joining us. We will save you a seat.
